LaChromUltra Technology

Why Ultra High-Speed LC?

LaChromUltra uses 2.0 μm particle size columns resulting in dramatically higher column efficiency compared to conventional HPLC systems. When using ≤ 2.0 μm particle sizes columns, efficiency does not diminish with increased linear velocity—resulting in both increased analysis speed and higher resolution.

Van Deemter Plot

Vertical axis: theoretical plate height (Chromatographic Efficiency)
Column length/theoretical plate number -- smaller number indicates higher column performance

Horizontal axis: linear velocity (Flow rate in the column)
The optimal flow rate range for 5 μm particle is narrow while the theoretical plate height for 2 μm particle remains very consistent at increased flow rates.

As a result, the analysis time is reduced by 90% compared to our conventional HPLC system.
